The Curbside Chronicle is dedicated to employing and empowering homeless and low-income individuals in Oklahoma City by increasing social awareness, reducing social stigma, providing a voice & a legitimate source of income through a local magazine. Homeless & Low Income Oklahomans are trained to sell the magazines throughout the city. They act as small business owners, earning valuable job skills, while using the program as a stepping-stone out of homelessness. Half of the content is written by the homeless or about issues of poverty & the other half highlights local businesses, artist & people.
The Homeless Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the system of care for the homeless in Oklahoma City through collaboration with government, faith-based and nonprofit service providers. The ultimate goal of the Homeless Alliance is to rally our community to end long-term homelessness in Oklahoma City by both preventing homelessness and increasing the supply of affordable and permanent supportive housing to move those who are currently homeless back into housing.
While The Curbside Chronicle & The Homeless Alliance are wonderful programs doing great work, there is still a need for everyday tangible items that we take for granted, but homeless & low-income individuals absolutely cannot afford, so….OSSO Sports & Social players will be filling backpacks with sanitary items. Each team will compete in a points based system for a $200 Tab at the Lighthouse Beach Bar & pizza from Empire Slice House!
